The scene was Zacchaeus, the chief tax collector publicly saying that he was willing to give his wealth to the poor and he is publicly admitting he had cheated people from different walks of life and he is willing to repay them not just double but up to four times. Jesus can say salvation has come to this house not because of works. But a heart that realizes sin, admits that he is a sinner, and that he can change his mind, stop sinning and make amends. Salvation is not by works, but genuine conversion will produce a change of heart that will result in good works. 5 Nov 2019
