Eze 4:5-6 ESV For I assign to you a number of days, 390 days, equal to the number of the years of their punishment. So long shall you bear the punishment of the house of Israel. And when you have completed these, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side, and bear the punishment of the house of Judah. Forty days I assign you, a day for each year. How do you define productivity and success? most people define it by its monetary equivalent: The size of your house, the cars you drive, the money in your bank account, the clothes you wear, the restaurants you eat at, the places you visit on your vacations? Most people define productivity and success using these barometers. In these passages God told Ezekiel to lie on his side for 390 days, then on the other side another 40 days that's 430 days on lying down. If you are a person who took Gallup strength finders 2.0 and your primary gift is achiever: this will be very difficult for you. You want to see the daily results of your daily activities, and you have this tendency to evaluate and judge each day by the actual tangible results you see as a result of what you are doing. But let us pause for a moment. Sleeping may not seem productive to you or it may seem a waste of time. (though to others it may be a dream job) but if it's the thing God wants you to do now in response to the fulfillment of God's design and plan, even when your mind and body tries to resist the seemingly illogical instruction from the Lord, simply trust that God knows best. Listening, and obeying the instructions of God is key to a successful life. It is key to hearing God saying "well done, good and faithful servant". A child of God would rather hear that from the master Himself rather than look good outwardly in the sight of men. 2 October 2020
