If his offering is a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offers an animal from the herd, male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the LORD. Leviticus 3:1 ESV
When the people of God bring their offerings to the Lord, they are to bring offerings acceptable to God. The offering must be without blemish. It must be without defect. In modern times, they are not supposed to be rejects. Let us not bring something because we can not use it anymore. Some people think the church is a place they can throw things they do not use anymore. Oh, this equipment no longer works, lets donate it to the church. This thing broke down, let us give it away. If you can not use it, why give it. If you want to bless someone with it, much more the church, have it fixed first. If you will not be happy to receive it, what in the world made you think that the Lord will be pleased with it in the first place. When we bring something to God as an offering, we do it to honor him. I am not saying it will be measured by the amount or the price of what we give. It will be measured on the generosity of the giver. Did this gift mean anything to the giver? Or is he just trying to remove clutter from his house? It may not be much but it cost him sacrifice to bring this to God. Please, don’t give to God or the church something that is of no value nor purpose to us. Bring an acceptable sacrifice. 31 January
