Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the Lord, the God of Israel. Joshua 14:14 ESV
What does it mean to wholly follow the Lord? it means believing the promises of God more than the circumstances surrounding it. When God promised you a land, it is seeing the beauty of the land instead of seeing the inhabitants that needs to be driven away from the land. It means trusting the one who made the promise rather than the obstacle that needs to be faced in order for the promise to come to fruition. Let me illustrate it when God promised you a child and you had been childless for quite some time as a married couple. If you really heard from God, wholly following God means putting all your confidence in Him who made the promised rather than being afraid because you have tried all your best without the expected results of all your efforts. It is totally trusting God and his plans for our lives even when we have to change directions on the life we have planned for ourselves. It may mean leaving all that is comfortable to follow God in a mission field with all the uncertainties and the only thing that is certain is that God called you there to bring the message of the Gospel. To some it may mean leaving the secure life they have built for themselves to follow the Lord in full vocational ministry, even it means you have to start all over again. God speaks to his sons and daughters. As sheep, we know His voice. May we consistently and wholly follow the Lord. 8 March
