There remained among the people of Israel seven tribes whose inheritance had not yet been apportioned. So Joshua said to the people of Israel, “How long will you put off going in to take possession of the land, which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you? Joshua 18:2-3 ESV
Some people think everything in life will be handed over to them on a silver platter. Even claiming their inheritance in God. Here, while the rest of the people have already been settled in what God has for them, the seven tribes have not yet received their and are waiting passively. Many people live their lives the same way. Instead of actively expecting things from God and participating in what God has for them, they think God will do everything for them. Two extremes on these area: one, people leave everything in the hands of God as if all that they want and all that they need will be handed over to them on a silver platter. The other extreme, that they need to work on it on their own as if by their own work and labor can they receive what God has promised. The balance is in the middle, that as we trust God and His promises, we go to the direction of his leading and walk the path he marked out for us. We are led by His Spirit, thus, we keep in step with Him. God wants us to trust Him while following Him. He usually gives instructions, expects His followers to trust Him enough to follow those instructions in the midst of their life situation and receive the promise. It has always been a partnership with God. In his grace he established a covenant or agreement with us. The great thing about God is that on his part of the covenant, he won't fail, though on our part, we remain a work in progress. 10 March
