David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God. 1 Samuel 30:6 ESV
Think about it for a moment. Most of the things we do in life, apart from pleasing God deals with our families. We want them safe, secure, blessed, sheltered, and protected. What happened here was the exact opposite of everything. Their wives kidnapped, their kids kidnapped, their houses burned, much of the reason they live for was taken away from them. They were so discouraged they wept until they have no more strength to weep. These are men who go to war, these are not wimps who will cry at the first sign of trouble. The men were so troubled they talked about the idea of killing David. Think about that. These men who are willing to die for David are now contemplating on killing him. These men, who have shed blood and pain in the battle campaigns of David was on their tipping point and are talking among themselves about something that was unthinkable - stone David to death.
But David found strength in the Lord his God. In seemingly hopeless cases, strength can be found in Christ. Man's greatest battles are not won in the battlefield but on their knees crying in desperation to the One who can turn the tides and the circumstances around. When we are running low on fantastic and we are at the end of our rope - there is strength in the Lord our God. 30 March
