They shall teach my people the difference between the holy and the common, and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean. Ezekiel 44:23 ESV
When God told Ezekiel to prophesy to the priest, he wanted them to understand something. God wants them to teach the people the difference between the holy and the common. Not that God has changed his standard for sin. Sin is sin no matter who commits it and no matter how grave the offense is. Forgiveness is forgiveness, no matter how often it is being asked for by the offending party. It was Christ who even said how often shall i forgive my brother? seven times? no seventy times seven times. (of the same day). God is forgiving and gracious, but he does expect a standard of holiness and separation from the people he had appointed as priests. People who are to minister before him and the people. May we not get this wrong. If God will keep on using us, may we separate ourselves from the common. We are new testament priests. Not just the full time ministers of the Gospel. Born again believers are characterized as members of the royal priesthood. This condition and admonition applies to us. Be separate from the common. Show distinction between the clean and the the unclean.
