The people of Israel had also done as Moses told them, for they had asked the Egyptians for silver and gold jewelry and for clothing. And the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. Thus they plundered the Egyptians. Exodus 12:35-36 ESV
In the days of the Old Testament, the word plunder is usually associated with war. If you defeat an enemy in an act of war, they become your subjects, and the winner plunders the loser. The winning country then colonizes the loser and plunders the property of the defeated nation. When the Israelites left Egypt, it was described that they plundered the Egyptians. God gave them the spoils of the war, without going to the actual battle themselves.
In our generation, when someone in government committed plunder, that deserves capital punishment. Plunder in Philippine culture year 2019 is a crime committed by people in office of government that pockets or take for themselves or their relatives money from the office that they hold. It is the act of taking money at the disposal of your office and stealing it to enrich one’s self. God does not want us to be blessed by stealing what does not belong to us. He can take the wealth of the wicked and deliver it to the just. He does not want us to be on the corrupt definition of plunder. God may allow us to take the spoils of war by not actually going through the actual war. God has ways of bringing wealth into our lives. If we will fully trust Him, he has His ways of providing for our needs. He has his ways of transferring wealth into our lives. Just don’t fall into the trap of seeking God because of the rewards or the blessings, or the prosperity, or the material possessions. Don’t seek God for the wealth. Seek Him and his righteousness, the wealth is just an added bonus. 21 January
