Serve.

Writer's picture: Michael CustodioMichael Custodio

Then all Israel gathered together to David at Hebron and said, “Behold, we are your bone and flesh. In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. And the Lord your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’” 1 Chron 11:1-2 ESV

In times past, even when David was not yet in the position of king, he was already doing the function and the service. What a lesson in leadership: you and I do not a position to become a leader. Even without position, we can already influence others. Even without formal positions of leadership, we can serve the people God has placed under our care. If our true intentions is to serve, we will serve. If we are motivated to serve and not motivated by power, perks and positions, then nothing can stop us from serving. We will enjoy being under the leadership of someone in authority not because we are waiting for our moment of promotion but because we enjoy every moment we have the chance to serve. If and when God gives us a position, we had been preparing ourselves for it. If we will not be placed by God to be the one in command, then under the leadership of somebody else, we can still thrive and serve to the best of our abilities. 27 April
