“I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I gaze at a virgin? Job 31:1 ESV

Job have made a covenant with his eyes. He will not gaze nor stare at a virgin. How about the ones that are not virgins? Does this exempt from looking and watching adulterous women. Does this verse exempt him from pornography because those involved in such are no longer virgins. Not at all. What is being said is that he had made a covenant with his eyes to keep himself from things that would corrupt his mind, his heart, his flesh. Lust in the hearts of men enters the eyes. So in order to keep himself pure, he decided to make a covenant with his eyes. He will not gaze at a virgin. The mind and the eyes can have this tendency to have difficulty unseeing what it does. It has a tendency to picture something wrong when the eye is caught. Best practice is to keep the eyes pure, keep the mind pure, and thus the life pure. 5 June
