“If you have raced with men on foot, and they have wearied you, how will you compete with horses? And if in a safe land you are so trusting, what will you do in the thicket of the Jordan? Jeremiah 12:5 ESV
We just want the easy life. We really just want to take life easy. You know relax a bit. We are not in a hurry. I am just taking it one stride at a time. It sounds nice. It may even sound convincing but we were never created to take it easy. Neither we are called to be rushed. My point, we were designed to be fruitful and productive. That needs passion. Passion fuels us to try harder, work smarter, work longer, and build a team around us. Nothing great was accomplished without passion. Here, the Lord told Jeremiah, if you have raced with men on foot, and they have wearied you, how will you compete with horses? Men are supposed to race with men, not horses. That's just the point: if racing with men, all you do is complain, make excuses, compare and find reasons to say that it is very hard, how can you accomplish the impossible of competing with horses and winning. This is not for the quitters. This is not for the fainthearted. This is for those who can stretch themselves while trusting God to supernaturally empower them at the end of their human capabilities. 30 August
