Raise Godly Sons.

Writer's picture: Michael CustodioMichael Custodio

Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord drove out before the people of Israel. For he rebuilt the high places that his father Hezekiah had broken down, and he erected altars to the Baals, and made Asheroth, and worshiped all the host of heaven and served them. 2 Chron 33:1-3 ESV

Hezekiah did the right things in his time, but he failed to instill his beliefs to his son Manasseh. Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, If he had been raised in the fear and the admonition of the Lord, he could have continued and built on the reforms of his father. But because it did not happen that way, he extremely went the other direction. He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, The things that his father destroyed he rebuilt, and the things his father built, he destroyed. May this be a lesson and reminder for us. We may be the best at what we do, if we do not train a successor or the next generation, what we build will collapse on them. So stop dreaming to be the best. Stop dreaming to always be the one correct, stop building an empire for your name and for your sake, but start giving your everything to position the next generation to succeed. Introduce them to God at an early age, let them see what God can do and help build their confidence in the one who can use them to make a difference and accomplish greater things that you and I can dream of. 14 May
