Because the people of Benjamin did not surrender the people who committed the crime of raping the concubine of the Levite, they got entangled in war. We need to understand the story. These men wanted to have sex with the Levite, but because he was under the protection of a certain host, the host did not want to give him up. The host was offering his own daughters to be defiled together with the concubine instead of the man but the people of Benjamin insisted. They raped the concubine of the Levite from evening until the morning. She died in the process. When the people of Israel heard this, they wanted justice, they were demanding the lives of the criminals, the people were not willing to surrender them to be punished. Instead of doing what was right to purge the evil from among them, they were willing to fight the other tribes of Israel rather than purge the evil from among them. The final result, 25000 men who drew the sword, men of valor lost their lives on account of what happened. Imagine that, had they surrendered the criminals, justice would have been served, bloodshed should have been avoided, but instead, 25000 families were affected because people did not want to purge the evil from among them. 25000 wives become widows, 25000 families became fatherless and kids became orphans. 18 March
