Provision through obedience.

“Depart from here and turn eastward and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. You shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” 1 Kings 17:3-4 ESV

True provision comes from obedience. When God instructed Elijah to hide by the brook Cherith, it was not the best prospect for provision, but it is the place God instructed him to go. In the place God has called us, God has His ways of providing what we need. Scripture here says God has commanded the ravens to feed Elijah. Think with me, did you know that ravens are not picky eaters. According to NatureMapping animal facts - Common ravens are mainly scavengers. They eat a wide array of animal foods, including arthropods, amphibians, small mammals, birds, reptiles, and carrion. They are attracted to carrion and eat also the insects that feed on carrion (chiefly on maggots and beetles). Ravens are not picky eaters - they will eat human trash, and if hungry enough they consume mammal dung. But for Elijah, the ravens have saved the best. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening, not the leftovers of their ordinary diet. Also, Elijah drank from the brook. In Philippine context; the ravens brought Elijah Jollibee hamburger in the morning, and McDonald’s burger in the evening, and he drank water from the brook. Are you in a place of lack? Ask God, Lord, am I in the place you want me to be? Is this the place you have been sending me this season of my life? Have I been living in obedience? Provisions are available in obedience to God’s direction for our lives. 13 April
