Then Jonathan climbed up on his hands and feet, and his armor-bearer after him. And they fell before Jonathan, and his armor-bearer killed them after him. 1 Samuel 14:13 ESV
Two men figured in this story. One was Jonathan the other was his armon bearer. The one was the son of the king, the other one was an unnamed servant who follows Jonathan wherever he goes. Here, we can see both men making a difference. Even when one was of royalty and one was not. Even when one was very prominent and the other was not even named. Even when one was heir to the thrown and the other may seem insignificant for the rest of the Israelites. You and I need to understand that we must never allow status to stop us from doing great exploits for God. The armor bearer of Jonathan may have been only carrying or holding the armor of the prince, but when valor and circumstances called for it, he was willing to risk his life for the prince and the kingdom. He was willing not just to carry the sword, the armor, the equipment of the prince but to put to use whatever he can find along the way to protect not just his life but the life of the prince of Israel. Even after the story was told, this guy was still unnamed. Come to think of it, how many people in the background have never been even mentioned. How many unknown people have made significant contributions to life and Christianity and they were not even named but their contribution had been significant. They do not care if they were personally remembered by people or their names coming to the memory of others, as long as they do the job God called them to do and serve the people God placed as authority over them. May you and I continue to make a difference. Whether you and I are the Jonathan or the armor bearer. With God, we can make a difference. 25 March
