Remember them, O my God, because they have desecrated the priesthood and the covenant of the priesthood and the Levites. Thus I cleansed them from everything foreign, and I established the duties of the priests and Levites, each in his work; and I provided for the wood offering at appointed times, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, for good. Neh 13:29-31 ESV
Two types of people that the Lord remembers: the ones who desecrated the temple and the other one who did the right thing. Nehemiah was praying Lord remember them, for all the wickedness they have done against you and your people. And Lord remember me, for what i have done fro you and your people. Nehemiah was not even asking for promotion or recognition of men, He was way past that. He was already very popular and privilege as cupbearer to the king before he took on this task. A task that is more than just building walls. A task that is more than a construction program. It was fixing lives. Fixing the wrong system, breaking the system that was already making lives miserable for the people. There were too much at stake and much sacrifice is needed to bring lasting change, but it can be done. Not because a task is too big to accomplish that we will shay away to even try. At least the moment we try to fix it, something will happen. Avoiding nor pretending it was not there won't make it vanish. Which of the two groups do we belong? Do we belong to those who make the problem bigger, or are the ones who responds to God and say make part of the solution. We make our choices, verbally or silently. Are we part of the problem or part of the solution. 22 May
