Potter and clay.

But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand. Isaiah 64:8 ESV

There was a season in our lives that we were in enmity with God. We ran our lives the way we want and we have no regard for the Lord. But that was past. When we came to know Christ, we acknowledge our need of a saviour, and together with it our Lord. We understand now that he is the potter. He choses how he will make the pot. He has full control of the shape that the clay will turn out to be. He chooses the design and the purpose of the pot. And the pottery simply has to function the way the master designed it to be. It may have a secondary purpose, it may be used occasionally for another reason but primarily and most if not all of the time. It will serve the function for what it was made to be. In application we need to fully understand why God made us so we can fully function in that and not live our secondary purposes. Seek Him, read His word, pray to him and serve the purpose why He formed you the way that you are. 26 August
