Perspective.

Writer's picture: Michael CustodioMichael Custodio

Now the rabble that was among them had a strong craving. And the people of Israel also wept again and said, “Oh that we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic. But now our strength is dried up, and there is nothing at all but this manna to look at.” Numbers 11:4-6 ESV

Man, the moment his perspective becomes flawed, will not see things for what they really are. They will only see what they want to see. The above passage was a perfect illustration. They remember the fish they ate in Egypt that cost nothing. But had they remembered the slavery they were experiencing in Egypt, without the prospect of promotion and freedom. Because if they will look at what the Lord is doing in their midst today, He is also providing them food that costs them nothing, but they were not being enslaved in the process, in actually God was delivering them from generations of slavery while providing for their provision along the process.

Even in their stubbornness, God still provided the meat that they want, still without the demands of working as slaves like when they were in Egypt. In His mercy God did not blot out this people. In His mercy, He still provided what they want not because they deserve it, simply because God is good. Remember, in His goodness God does amazing things for us and through us, but if our perspective is flawed, we will never see it. 12 February
