Only You Know

And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” Ezekiel 37:3

Reading the narrative from Ezekiel 37 where God made alive the valley of dry bones is like reading a heart pounding novel that can't be put down even for a minute. The description was simply amazing. You can be transported to the actual scene by reading that portion of Scripture. And if you aspire to a be a writer, that was simply awesome. But we will try to talk about that some other time. Let us try to look at verse three from our text. When God showed Ezekiel the dry bones and asked him can these bones live? He could have answered yes or no. But Ezekiel answered "o Lord, you know." the New Living Translation says “O Sovereign Lord,” I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.”

The same is true for dry bones today. With the people of the world all around us like dead men walking, only God knows who among these people will live. That does not give us an excuse not to tell them about Jesus. Indeed.. 'you alone know the answer to the question - of the people around the world dead and dried spiritually, who among these ones will actually live? on our end however, we will keep telling people about you God. We will keep going. We will keep preaching. We will keep engaging cultures and communities. We will keep in mind that You don't want anyone to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Only you God know the answer to the question. But we will keep going even when we don't know the answer. 22 November 2018
