One God, three Persons.

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 ESV

God told the people of Israel they must be fully convinced that there is only one God. This does not violate Gods revelation of himself eternally existent in three persons of the Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit, commonly known as the trinity. This passage emphasized the unity in God, thus convincing the Jews of monotheism as opposed to the many gods of the nations around them. If the nations and the world are polytheistic in nature and they worship so many gods represented by their so many idols, God on the other hand is one God. Again, i want to explain that as creator when He said, let Us make man in Our image, He was not consulting with angels, for angels were not creators, they are created beings. He was conferring to the co-existent persons of the Godhead, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Co-eternal. co-existent, co-equal. We are not endorsing three Gods as described by tri-theism, nor are we communicating one God appearing in three distinct modes (oneness or modalism). We are talking about one God existing in three persons. We are to love Him with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our might. We must love Him with everything we are and with everything we've got. 22 February
