Be careful to obey all these words that I command you, that it may go well with you and with your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the sight of the LORD your God. Deuteronomy 12:28 ESV
God wants things to go well with us. This has the idea of blessings and prosperity. This connotes the idea of being healthy, being prosperous and living in the abundance of God’s promises. God said this as a result of a life living in obedience with His commandments, that when we live in obedience, it will go well with us. That same truth still applies to this generation. Obedience to laws and commandments did not save the people of old, neither can it save people today. True salvation can only come from grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Obedience to God’s laws will not produce salvation because salvation is a gift from God. Obedience to God’s principles will go well with us though. If we live and apply the principles of the Bible in our daily lives, we in turn places ourselves in position to be recipients of God’s answers. In our obedience, things go well with us. We reap the things that we have sown. We reap from the sacrifices of people of old. The next generation also benefits from our obedience to God. 24 February
