He said, “I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.” John 1:23 ESV
He did not fail to confess, but he confessed freely. John was not a person after titles. He was person after function. He did not claim to be the Messiah, he did not claim to be Elijah, he did not claim to be the prophet: He was not after a title nor a popular name known by people. He was the voice in the wilderness to prepare the way of the Lord. He was focused on his calling and the purpose of God for his generation. He had a call and he stuck to it no matter what. It might not be the popular thing that day. It might even be unheard of, but he did what God called him to do and he did it to the best of his understanding. He kept preparing the way of the Lord. May we keep to our calling and fulfill God's purpose for our lives in this generation. 7 November
