Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Mark 16:14-15 ESV
Jesus did not have perfect people around him. Neither did he had double faced people around him, these men were not afraid to show Jesus who they really were. They may not be perfect but they were authentic. Some of them were impulsive, some were willing to show him they were friends of sinners, some were power and position hungry, some were wanting to be ahead of the others, but they were authentic people. What you see is what you get, they don’t try to hide behind a mask, except maybe for Judas. In the above passage Jesus rebuked them for unbelief and hardness of heart. Even at that, he entrusted the great commission to imperfect people. You and I don’t have any excuse of being so far from perfection because the disciples were just as we are. We can not make excuses of lack of faith nor unbelief because we are just like the disciples who actually saw the signs and wonders with their own eyes. Let us keep preaching the gospel to the ends of the earth while God continually work in our lives. 31 Oct
