And when he went into the tent of meeting to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the testimony. At the center where the ten commandments were placed was called the mercy seat. In the center of the law is God's mercy. In God's dealing with people, mercy had not departed from the character of God. To say that the God of the Old testament is a God of justice and the God of the New Testament is a God of mercy is a misrepresentation of God. For the Lord do not change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His love, His mercy, His grace, His compassion and his judgement had not changed nor waver in time. We can fully put our confidence and trust in Him because He is immutable. His mercy endures forever. 11 February
