“Cursed is he who does the work of the Lord with slackness, and cursed is he who keeps back his sword from bloodshed." Jeremiah 48:10
Slackness can be defined as follows: the state of being slower and less active than usual. It is use to describe a person or organization that is not working as well or as hard as they should. This is laziness personified. Imagine a person doing his job but instead of his normal speed, his actions are in slow motion. It's the in between of am i going to do this or not. Some might argue that to do things with slackness is better that not doing it at all. Well let me tell you something better. "anything worth doing, is worth doing right." Slackness demonstrates a lack of enthusiasm. And it's not something you get from the outside. You can be inspired or motivated externally but enthusiasm is something internal. Even the root words for it comes from two en-inside and theos-God. You are so full of God that it excites you to do the things he has called you to do. You are so on fire for God you can not remain seated in one place. If we are doing the work of the Lord, we have all the reason to be excited and give our best with what he has entrusted us with. Here, slothfulness and slackness in a person is warranting a curse. To the one who is slack in his work, especially if it is the work of God, don't expect the great favor and blessing... wake up, smart up, shape up, you might be in for a curse instead. 9 Nov 2018
