Keeping Vows.

Writer's picture: Michael CustodioMichael Custodio

I will come into your house with burnt offerings; I will perform my vows to you, that which my lips uttered and my mouth promised when I was in trouble. Psa 66:13-14 ESV

If you read the verses at the beginning of chapter 66, it is filled with testing, but in the verses above, it still says, I will come into your house with burnt offerings; and will perform my vows to God. Natural tendencies of people, when the going gets tough, they forget their vows to God. When pressed, they ask God to free them from their vows or some will simply not fulfill their vows expecting the mercy of God to cover over them. Let us understand even though God is merciful, God is forgiving, he also holds us accountable to our vows. It is better not to vow than to vow and not fulfill it. 29 June
