He said to David, “You are more righteous than I, for you have repaid me good, whereas I have repaid you evil.” 1 Samuel 24:17 ESV
As followers of Christ, we need to keep doing the right thing even if others do not deserve it. Here, the contrast between the actions of King Saul and David was so evident. One repaid evil with good, that was David, while the other repaid good with evil – Saul. Saul realized his mistake, he openly and publicly declared these words when he realized that David had the chance to kill him but choose not to. He had with him the opportune time, but because David was conscience stricken, he did not to harm the Lord’s anointed, he refused to kill Saul.
Let us take the scenario and bring to our current world March 28, 2019. How are people treating us in life today? Are there people who have been treating us wrongly. We have not done them anything wrong, in fact, we have been trying our best to live right and do the right things but it seemed they made it their intention to harm our lives. May we continue to guard our hearts. There are people who will repay good with evil. May it not be said among the followers of God. May it be said that even when people repaid our good deeds with evil, we will still do good and will not stop just because one or two people have treated us wrongly. Let us not become weary in doing good, even when people around us do not live by that principle. 28 March
