In this Might of Yours.

Writer's picture: Michael CustodioMichael Custodio

And the Lord turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?” Judges 6:14 ESV

The Lord called to a man man hiding in the mountains and in the caves and commissioned him to save Israel from the Hand of Midian. As he assessed himself, Gideon knew himself to be a coward. That was the very reason he was hiding in the mountains and in the caves. When an angel from God addressed him as mighty warrior, or a man of valor, he even looked around to check if the angel was addressing somebody else. But noteworthy in this verse is the phrase "go in this might of yours". Your might, no matter how small it is in your eyes is enough to get the job done. It does not matter how feeble you may feel, as long as God gave the instruction, that is enough. Your strength, no matter how small in the hands of God and in God's purpose is enough to get the job done. The confidence will not be in your strength but in the one who calls you for the task, in the one who commissioned you for this endeavor. To paraphrase, go with the little strength that you have, and see how i will deliver Midian into your hands. 14 March
