Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. 2 Thessalonians 3:6 ESV
There will always be idle people in the world. They might differ in reason, they may differ in their motivation or the lack of it, but they will exist. If this is true in the world, it must not happen in the house of God. We are commanded by Paul to keep away from idleness. This admonition goes both ways. First, there should never be one idle bone in our body. We must not even imagine of living a life just being by the beach, tying in a hammock and just sleeping near a coconut tree with all the food we could ever need. To relax and take a vacation is part of being refreshed to be more productive, but living and longing for an idle and lazy life is a totally different story. Second; if we know people walking in that direction. It is our responsibility as a brother to remind them, correct them, and admonish them not to continue in such manner, rather honor God with their lives and do the will of God. Don't just be busy doing everything that you can focus on doing one thing. Understanding God's purpose and will enables us to set the priorities in our lives. Be fruitful, no not be idle. 23 December
