Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Philippians 2:3 ESV
Some reminders for all of us. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit. The reason Paul reminded them of such words is because there are times that we actually do things out of selfish ambitions. We do things because we want to be ahead. We do things because we want to be recognized, we do things because we want to be rewarded. On the other extreme, some people do things because of conceit. They don't verbalize the words but inside they say "i'll do it because nobody else can do it." If i will allow others, they will mess it up. Nobody can do it the way i do it. I am the best at what i do and i can not entrust it with anybody else. Paul wants us to stop acting this way. He wants us to stay away from these things rather, in humility count others more significant than ourselves. Even if they are not actually more significant, count them as such. Even if they are not even in the same league as ours, treat them better than ourselves. And when we consider others better than ourselves, we tend to give them the respect due them. We then shift perspective and point of view. from always in the first person (me, myself, and I). We now take the road of giving chance and credit, and opportunity for others. That my friends, my brothers is true essence of Christian maturity. 19 December
