“You are my hammer and weapon of war: with you I break nations in pieces; with you I destroy kingdoms;" Jeremiah 51:20
People. Leaders. Ordinary people, became extraordinary leaders when called forth by God in moments prepared for them. True indeed, God will use people to execute judgment. In the last chapters of the book of Jeremiah God said that through the Babylonians he will execute judgment for the people of Israel and Judah. Not because Babylon was worthy or was righteous, they also are in sin. This is what confused the people of Judah. How will a nation filled with idolatry, whose king considers himself a god be actually used by God to execute judgment and justice. And later on, how can Babylon, the reigning superpower of its generation be beaten by a nation nor people weaker than they are. The answer is in God. For wars are won not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit of the Lord. And God does it with the participation of men. People becomes His hammer and weapon of war. With people God breaks nations to pieces. With the participation on men God can destroy kingdoms. But the hammer can not brag on its own. A plain hammer will accomplish nothing if it will not be picked up by the hand of the user. Yes people will be used as a hammer and weapon of war. But apart from the hands of the maker, the hand of the Almighty, the hammer will remain dormant, it has no power on its own. 10 Nov 2018
