Great pretender.

One pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth. Prov 13:7 ESV

The facade and the futile attempts of people to look better that what they really are, is a sad reality in every generation. Proverbs says one pretends to be rich, yet has nothing. These are people who try to look rich by buying signature clothes, buying the latest gadget, eating in fancy restaurants, refusing to take public transportations, and doing everything to look like they are rich, yet they have nothing. These are people who buys gadgets on credit cards. They are the ones who keeps upgrading mobile phones with the latest model. On the other hand, the rich, who fully understands the value of money, does not try to impress people by the car they drive, the clothes they wear, the house they live in, the jewelries they wear, and the gadgets they use. They live and purchase on functionality and not to impress. Instead of buying things, they invest their resources on money making investments. Instead of buying gadgets, they make investments who in turn will make profit and re-invest their money. May we not fall into the trap of trying to impress people. May we live prudent lives, save, invest, and never splurge to impress anyone. 28 July
