The king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and also slaughtered all the officials of Judah at Riblah. He put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him in chains, and the king of Babylon took him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death. Jeremiah 52:10-11
Not everybody had the change to start well, but at least we can have to chance to finish well. For most people, life is not handed in a silver platter. Many worked their way up the ladder while others inherit the position, the power, the wealth. But then again, finishing well is better than starting well. In Jeremiah 52 it was said that Zedekiah was simply 21 years old when he became king and he reigned in Jerusalem for 11 years. All those years he had the chance to make it right. He had the chance to change his ways, and follow God. He could have repented of the wrong ways he had done and come back to his senses, but he refused. Even when judgment is being prophesied to the nation, he refused to change. and what was the ending. - Seeing all your sons being slaughtered before your very eyes, and after that they took out his eyes. The last thing that will be etched in his memory as the last thing he saw was his children being killed. Talk about the greatest pain a father could ever experience. Then he was bound in chains and imprisoned until the time of his death.
When God calls for repentance, respond. He is giving people a way out. 11 November 2018
