God's presence.

Writer's picture: Michael CustodioMichael Custodio

As soon as all the kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan to the west, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan for the people of Israel until they had crossed over, their hearts melted and there was no longer any spirit in them because of the people of Israel. Joshua 5:1 ESV

When the nations around them heard what God has done to the waters of the Jordan, their hearts melted with fear. When are enemies are filled with fear, the battle is already half won. When people act in fear, they will never be able to live with their full potential. Apart from God putting fear in the hearts of the enemy of Israel, God placed trust in the people towards the leadership of Joshua. God Himself said, He will exalt Joshua in the midst of the people by what He will do in their midst. God will show the people that He was with Joshua as He was with Moses. When people around us see that God is with us, they will put their confidence in us. When the people we lead sees that God is with us, they will have confidence in our leadership. So bottom line, it is not how good we are as a leader, it is not even how talented we are with leadership skills, it is about the presence of God in our lives that puts confidence in the lives of our followers that we can bring them to God’s purpose, calling and inheritance for their lives. 5 March
