God never lies.

Writer's picture: Michael CustodioMichael Custodio

God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? Numbers 23:19 ESV

Two things we can surmise from these verses. First, God will never lie, nor change His mind, Second, man will lie and will change his mind. The first statement, God is not man, that he should lie should give us all the confidence we need to trust and believe His words and promises. Whatever God promised, He will fulfill because He will and He can not lie. So, one of our responsibility as a believer of God is to know what He says. Know without a shadow of a doubt what He is saying to us. Because the moment we fully know what God says, then we can fully depend upon it, because He means what He says, and He says what he means. The issue of believing should not be as difficult as it is when we fully understand what God has been saying to us. If we are not sure of God's word and will, how can you and I stand and believe in areas of our lives? His plans and purpose will never contradict his written word. His plans and purpose are revealed in Scriptures. For the most part it sets the boundaries in our lives but at the same time providing the limitations up to how and where we operate on the basis of those boundaries. But the moment we fully know and are fully convinced of His words and will, the battle is half won. We have to trust His character more than the circumstances we are in. He have to trust His character more than the facts and circumstance that we are up against.

Also because of the truth that God does not change His mind, based from His revelation of who He is from the Scriptures, we have an idea of what His stand on certain things are. How does He deal with sin? How does he deal with sinners? How does he treat the repentant? How does he provide for His sons and daughters? What is His attitude towards sickness and diseases? The more we discover who God is based from His words, and the clearer His word is to our lives, the easier we can put our faith in Him 16 February
