God is in control.

For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake and for the sake of my servant David.”

And that night the angel of the Lord went out and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians. And when people arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies. 2 Kings 19:34-35 ESV

Assyria at this time was dreaded by those around him. They have become very formidable in war. They are wrecking havoc and news about them continues to spread. People are afraid of what they have done and what they threaten to do. Here Hezekiah, his people and God was being mocked by these people. Hezekiah prayed to God. He asked God to judge these people because they have defied the Lord. Hezekiah was asking that God deal with these people so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that God alone, is the only true God. And God came to their rescue. In a single night the angel of the Lord went out and struck down 185,000 in the Assyrian camp. Think about that. If you can imagine what was going on, people dying all over the place. Those who did not die that night surely melted in fear and trembled because of what they saw. Because each one of them now know that if God wants them dead. He will not need a war to break out before he can execute them. He can just pass by and they can die and they can not do anything about it. God can not be mocked. He is God and He remains in control. 21 April
