Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked. 1 Chron 4:10 ESV
In the middle of listing of genealogies was this man Jabez. God through the writer of Chronicles had to interrupt the listings of the names of the people there because he wanted us to read about the life of Jabez and his prayer. He asked for the enlargement of his territory. Not a bad ambition if asked for the right reasons. He also asked for the hand of God. He also asked to be kept from harm and that it might not bring him pain. And God grated him his request. His mom called him pain. Jabez because she bore him in pain. Think about it, the very mom of Jabez called him a child of pain. The very person who should have been speaking life, positivity, vision, was the one who branded him pain. But he will not accept it. He asked God to change it because he believed his destiny os not to live in pain and not to cause pain to those around him. 24 April
