But the Lord GOD helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame. Isaiah 50:7 ESV
Most of the time we think of stubborn and unyielding as something wrong. But to some extent there is positive in it. We can be stubborn in the right things and its alright. We can be willing to negotiate and collaborate on some areas, but there are areas we need to stand firm no matter what. Even in theology, not all Christians agree on all doctrines of the Bible, but on essential issues. There must be a firm resolve not to give in on essential doctrines of the faith. The Trinity for example is an essential doctrine, the deity of Jesus Christ, the virgin birth, the sinless life of Jesus, His death, burial, and resurrection. The depravity of man, Salvation by faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. These are things we can be stubborn at. There are minor areas in the Bible that we can tolerate one another's differences. May God help us to distinguish one from the other, and may God give us the courage to be firm on matters we need to be firm at. 22 August
