You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:48-49 ESV
There are Christians that run their lives in a hurry. That it seems that everything about their lives run on 120 km/hour speed. They do not pause, they do not rest, they seem to be rushed and pushed all the time, they are always in a hurry. Some think that by slowing down they are wasting time or reducing productivity, on the contrary its the other way around. We can not build meaningful relationship on rushed time. Communication takes time. Relationship and carefully listening and caring for people will never be built in rushed times. We need to take the moment to wait, listen and then proceed properly. Here before Jesus ascended He was giving a commission to his disciples. At the same He tells them that He is sending the promise of the Father. Wait for the promise, no matter how long it takes, stay in the city until you are clothes with power. Do not rush. Do not be too quick to jump into world mission on your own power, skills, experience - wait until you are clothed with power from on high. Do not be in a hurry doing to do things that you forget the more important things. Do not be in haste to act without the tools needed to succeed. Do not be in a hurry to promote people when they have not been equipped nor given the tools to succeed. There is wisdom in slowing down. We can go slow without being lazy. There are things that takes time.
