Don't despise small beginnings

Greet also the church in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who was the first convert to Christ in Asia. Romans 16:5 ESV

Never despise the days of small beginnings. Paul had been a person whose ministry had been marked with success. He lived the life the followed God and he went and did the unpopular just to remain in God's calling and purpose. But not all things that are built are built big right away. Here a church meets in a house. We have no idea how big that house was because in the book of Acts at Pentecost, they were praying in an upper room that seats about a hundred and twenty (120) people. Whatever is the size of the house they were meeting in at Romans 16:5, humble beginnings are never to be despised. If a church is connected to Christ and it is healthy, it will grow. We can all contribute one way or another, but bottom line God causes the growth. Indeed, we will never despise days of small beginnings, but we will strive and work hard to engage and disciple people and trust God to bring in the growth in church.
