The hands of compassionate women have boiled their own children; they became their food during the destruction of the daughter of my people. Lamentations 4:10
They say that pressure can either make you or break you. When pressure happens, what's on the inside is squeezed out. When you have built strong principles and inner strength, you will come out victorious, otherwise, you will be broken to pieces. As one physics professor once said "indeed pressure can transform coal into diamonds, but it is also pressure that can turn coal into dust.". If we will look at the cries of Jeremiah in Lamentations 4:10, he said the unthinkable had happen. The women who used to live in compassion and personified compassion have now become calloused. They can now do the horrifying - boiled their own children. Some people reading this can reason with themselves that this verse is figurative or a figure of speech, not literal. Whether literal or figurative, the stress and the punishment, and the hunger that was being encountered the people had broke them down to think, say, and do the unthinkable.
Do not allow the stress of life to break you. Greater is Christ in us than he that is in the world. Do not allow hardness of life to change our Christlike character. Be the diamond not the dust when pressed to your limits. 12 November 2018
