I will heal their apostasy; I will love them freely, for my anger has turned from them.

What a promise. He will heal their apostasy. Apostasy is defined as the abandonment or the renunciation of a religious belief. Wow, even when the people of Israel and Judah had abandoned their faith, turned their backs on everything they believed in. When they turn back or repents, the Lord will heal them. God will love them freely. He will not condemn forever. he will not blot them out completely.
Only God loves freely. People love and experience pain. Thus, making them more cautious when it comes to love, trust, forgiveness, and the likes. But with God, He loves freely. This freedom may have the risk that goes along with it... that people may sometimes or often times abuse it. But this extravagant loves is the one that keeps people going back. Even when they don't feel like they deserve a chance to come back, even when they have wasted everything in wild living, even when nobody would receive them back logically, this love gives people a chance to come home. It gives people the opportunity that at the end of their rope, when all they could ask for was mercy, when all they could ask for is to be received as a hired servant or a slave, they will still have room in God's family as a son. 29 November
