And as soon as the royal power was firmly in his hand, he struck down his servants who had struck down the king his father. Just a background. Amaziah, son of Joash, is now king of Judah, he succeeded his father after a conspiracy to kill him had been successful. Amaziah was not part of this plot of having his father killed, but being next in line, the kingdom was transferred to him to follow the rule of succession.
