But to the house of the Rechabites Jeremiah said, “Thus says the Lordof hosts, the God of Israel: Because you have obeyed the command of Jonadab your father and kept all his precepts and done all that he commanded you, therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Jonadab the son of Rechab shall never lack a man to stand before me.” Jeremiah 35:18-19 ESV

In this passage, doom was prophesied for the entire land of Judah, for the Nation of Israel had already been divided into two kingdoms, the 10 tribes in the north commonly known as Israel, and the two tribes down south, called Judah. The entire nation of Judah and its inhabitants will eventually receive the disaster that were pronounced against them because they were not willing to listen nor change their ways. God warned them, but they did not listen. God spoke to them but they have not answered. But to the house of the "Rechabites". Who in the world are the Rechabites? Some might be hearing or reading their names for the very first time. I have to confess. I have read the Bible many times, their names don't even ring a bell. But me remembering them is not what matters. i believe they won't mind who remembers nor forgets them, what matters is God was pleased with them. When the people of Judah were doing all that seem good to them, or running their own lives.. the Rechabites decided to live by the precepts taught by their father Jonadab, thus God told them... "Jonadab the son of Rechab shall never lack a man to stand before me.”

When we choose to live by the precepts and commandments of God. It does not matter if people remember us or not. We are not following the waves, we are not drifting ashore, we are not like a reed tossed by the wind. We stand and stay in principles that honors God. And if none but God remembers me, that's fine by me.
