Bigger than us.

Writer's picture: Michael CustodioMichael Custodio

Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on his head and kissed him and said, “Has not the Lord anointed you to be prince over his people Israel? And you shall reign over the people of the Lord and you will save them from the hand of their surrounding enemies. And this shall be the sign to you that the Lord has anointed you to be prince over his heritage. 1 Samuel 10:1 ESV

Samuel prophesied these words to Saul. Has not the Lord anointed you to be prince over his people Israel? And you shall reign over the people and save them from the hand of their surrounding enemies. When God calls people for a position of leadership and service, He gives them the reason behind. It was not to have a king like the other nations around them. It is not to give him power and position so he can Lord it over others and make a slave of everybody else. It was not for him to have a more comfortable life that those around him. It was to save the people from their enemies. The purpose of him being chosen as king is to preserve the lives of many. It was to preserve the lives of those under his authority and leadership. It will always be bigger than us, and it is more that than us. God’s purpose is totally higher than what you and I can imagine. We need to fully understand God’s calling and purposes that we may fully participate in it and not miss the purpose for the whole thing. 23 March
