And I will set my face against them. Though they escape from the fire, the fire shall yet consume them, and you will know that I am the Lord, when I set my face against them. Ezekiel 15:7 ESV
Reading through Ezekiel will help us understand God. He is great in mercy but he is also just and holy. In the next chapter Ezekiel 16 the vileness and the adulterous lifestyle of the people that supposed to belong to God had now embraced everybody else. She was being likened to a woman who had been cared for, adorned, pampered, only to be involved in prostitution. And because of it, she will be punished. It came to a point that her lifestyle was enraged God more that the people of Sodom - who had been destroyed by God. Here God said He had set his face against them. When God declared us as enemies, there is escape. No power, no force, nothing can withstand the wrath of God. In this verse, what escaped the fire, the fire shall still consume. If the first wave of punishment have not dealt with them all... and some have escaped... the second wave will utterly destroy them. and they will know that I am the Lord. God, though fully gracious and fully merciful, is also completely holy. Only mercy triumphs over judgment. Don't make God your enemy, do everything to change and move over to his side. Make peace with God, repent, and be an ally not an opponent. 15 Nov 2018
