Actions have consequences. Reuben the firstborn of Israel lost the birthright because of what he did. It was given to the sons of Joseph, why? He defiled his father’s couch or bed. This was totally forbidden in their time, it dishonors the father and it specifically mentioned in Leviticus for there to be no room nor gray area on interpretation. When he defiled his father’s bed, he did not weigh the possible ramifications of his actions ten years later. Decisions affect our future, our actions have consequences. Whether we face the full consequences of a wrong decision or live in the grace and mercy of God we need to keep making the right choices because it affects lives, not just ours. Let us continue to live a life of obedience to God even when we are under grace. 25 April
