Vows.

Writer's picture: Michael CustodioMichael Custodio

“If you make a vow to the Lord your God, you shall not delay fulfilling it, for the Lord your God will surely require it of you, and you will be guilty of sin. But if you refrain from vowing, you will not be guilty of sin. Deuteronomy 23:21-22 ESV

God wants us to be careful with our words. He wants people to be true to their words. When God says something, He is already bound to it. He wants His followers to be careful with their words. That we can be people of integrity. That we are bound by our words that what we say we will definitely do. If this is God's expectation from us, how much more with our vows. If without a vow, God expects us to be true to our words, how much more when we make a vow or a pledge. God wants His people to set the bar for the rest of humanity. When the world do not give much attention to the value of their words and commitments, we want to reflect the character and dependability of God by being true to our words and promises. 28 February
