“Don’t make yourself unclean by doing any of these wrong things! I am throwing nations off their land and giving it to you because they did those terrible sins. Leviticus 18:24 ESV
Exodus 18 gave instructions to the people of God when it comes to sexual relationships. An entire chapter was ascribed to it. Some people may say, why did God even have to specify these things one by one? Does not the people of God know about this already? Well, that is the main point. Conscience might speak to them what is right and wrong, but God saying it plain and simple, without room for misunderstanding and misinterpretation. It takes away the opportunity for man and women to make excuses. Why did God had to make things so clear even when some of the things listed there was unthinkable, like having relations with your mother, having sex with animals, having sex with a woman and her daughter, and so on. Some might think this is taking things to the extreme. The reason why? Lust has no limits. If the issue is simply sex, then there is limitations to it, when the heart of the issue is lust, it defies logic. Think about it, if the issue in Solomon's life is sex, and not lust, why will it take 300 wives and 700 concubines. If the issue with David was sex, when he saw Bathsheba bathing, he could just slept with his wives and not call for her to have relations with her. Lust controlling people makes them defy logic. Exchanging their family, for few stolen moments of pleasure. May we continue to live a life of purity and flee from sexual immorality. 5 February
